Followers, reach, engagement.
The Instagram integration brings the reading of your organic presence — followers, reach, engagement on your posts. For paid Instagram ads, that data is read via Facebook Ads (same Meta platform, separated by read-path).
What it covers
Organic performance of your Instagram account: audience, reach, engagement, and post performance.
Feeds the Social group of Pulse.
The connection is read-only — we don’t post, don’t interact, and don’t change anything in your account.
Prerequisites
- An Instagram Business or Creator account (personal accounts don’t work — convert first in Settings → Account → Switch to professional account).
- Connected to a Facebook Page — Instagram only exposes insights via Meta Business. Even if you never use Facebook, you need a Page linked.
- Admin or Editor role on the associated Facebook Page.
How to connect
- In Integrations, click Instagram.
- Log in with your Facebook account (the flow goes via Meta, not Instagram directly).
- Authorise read-only access.
- Choose the Facebook Page that has the Instagram account linked.
- Done. Syncing begins.
The first sync pulls up to 13 months of history, depending on what Instagram provides.
Common issues
- “My Instagram account doesn’t appear”: check three things — it’s Business or Creator (not Personal), it’s linked to a Facebook Page, and you have Admin/Editor role on that Page.
- “Empty insights”: accounts recently converted to Business have no retroactive data. Instagram only starts collecting data after conversion.
- “Reels with little data”: Reels have more limited metrics than regular posts — that’s an Instagram API limitation.
- “App not verified” during login: this warning appears while we finalise official verification with Meta. You can continue — the access is read-only, as with any integration.
Next steps
- Connecting your first integration — the general process before moving to any specific platform.
- Reading Pulse groups — understand how Instagram appears in cross-context.
- What is Intelligence? — ask questions about your social presence in natural language.
