Google Business Profile
Local presence, reviews, directions.
Google Business Profile (formerly Google My Business) is where your business appears on Google Maps and in local search results. For physical or location-based businesses, it’s probably the most important source of traffic outside your site.
What it covers
Your business’s local presence on Google: queries, views, contacts (calls, directions, clicks to site), and reviews.
Feeds the Organic group of Pulse, alongside Google Analytics and Search Console.
The connection is read-only — we don’t reply to reviews, don’t create posts, and don’t change profile information. Everything stays managed by you in Business Profile Manager.
Prerequisites
- A verified profile in Google Business Profile (postal code, phone, video, or email).
- “Owner” or “Manager” access to the profile.
- An active profile — suspended or under-review profiles don’t return data.
If you haven’t verified the profile yet, do it at business.google.com.
How to connect
- In Integrations, click Google Business Profile.
- Log in with the Google account that manages the profile.
- Authorise read-only access.
- Choose the location you want to connect.
- Done. Syncing begins.
Multiple locations
If you manage more than one business, each location is a separate integration. Connect the ones you want to track.
Common issues
- “My business doesn’t appear”: check the profile status at business.google.com. If it’s “Pending verification”, you need to complete Google’s verification first.
- “I see very little data”: Google only returns detailed data for profiles with minimum volume. New or rarely-searched businesses may have sparse reports.
- “Some queries are hidden”: Google hides queries with low volume for privacy reasons.
- “Recent reviews are late”: there’s a lag of a few hours. They appear on the next sync.
- “Two locations with the same name”: the location ID is what distinguishes them, not the name. Confirm by address.
Next steps
- Connecting your first integration — the general process before moving to any specific platform.
- Reading Pulse groups — understand how Business Profile appears in cross-context.
- What is Intelligence? — ask questions about your local presence in natural language.
